ANPR stands for automatic number plate recognition. A camera reads the plate of each vehicle that arrives, and the system checks it against your list of approved vehicles.
At a gate, approved cars drive straight in and the others wait for a guard. In a car park, it gives you a log of every vehicle that came and went. GTECH plans, installs and supports ANPR for sites across the UAE.
Tell us about your gate and the vehicles that use it. We will survey the lane and suggest a setup.

How ANPR works
A camera aimed at the lane captures each plate as the vehicle approaches. Software reads the characters and stores the plate, the time and a picture of the vehicle.
UAE plates carry Arabic and English text, an emirate name and a plate code. The system is set up to read these formats.
You keep lists of approved vehicles, such as staff cars, residents and regular suppliers. When a match is found, the barrier can open on its own. If there is no match, the guard is alerted.
Picture quality decides how often plates are read correctly. We pay close attention to camera angle, lane width, lighting at night and the speed of vehicles in the lane.

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is number plate reading?
It is high when the camera is placed well and the plate is clean and visible. Heavy dirt, damaged plates and very fast vehicles lower it. We test on your lane before handover.
Does ANPR work at night?
Yes. We add the right lighting and camera settings, so plates are readable after dark.
Can ANPR open the barrier by itself?
Yes. When a plate matches the approved list, the system sends a signal to the barrier. You can keep manual control for visitors.
Can we use it with our CCTV?
Yes. The plate log and the CCTV footage can be matched by time, which makes it easy to find the video for a given vehicle.
